An operation, known and practised for a long time, which consists in the excision of the nymphae. The operation is had recourse to, when they are attacked with seirrhus, cancer, fungus, or gangrene; or when they are so large as to interfere with walking or coition. Nymphotomy is the circumcision of the female. It is practised in some countries. Some authors have used the term Nymphotomy for amputation of the clitoris.
